Plastic surgeons and their patients faced multiple challenges related to medical recovery garments:

​

  1. Predictive Challenges: Surgeons had to predict and stock various recovery garments, leading to overhead costs and potential inaccuracies in sizing and fit.

  2. Multiple Purchases: Patients needed to purchase at least two recovery garments during their recovery, with the risk of ordering incorrect sizes pre-surgery.

  3. Cost and Logistics: Incorrectly ordered garments required expensive overnight shipping, adding financial and logistical burdens.

  2. Predictive 3D Scans: The algorithm provides predictive 3D scans of the patient's breast post-operation, considering factors like chest wall width and breast shape protrusion to recommend the best recovery garments.

  3. Pre- and Post-Operation Digital Twins: Offers digital twin scans before and after surgery, allowing patients to track changes and receive tailored garment recommendations.

  4. Privacy and Data Security: The digital twin scans do not collect personal data or imagery, using point cloud renderings or matches from a pre-existing database to make recommendations based on purchase history.

Implementation Steps

  1. Technology Integration: Integrated LiDAR technology into their workflow, enabling users to conduct 360-degree scans using their smartphones.

  2. Algorithm Development: The algorithm was designed to analyze scan data, predict post-surgery (breast augmentation, reduction, and mastectomy) breast shapes, and recommend the appropriate recovery garments and fashion bras.
